Original Antiq Westclock 1

Spectatular Gustav BeckerOpen Well Clock, c.1891

Ship From Vista CA
We will have this clock atthe Greater Los Angeles Regionalin Pasadena if not previously sold.

At first glance, a knowledgeable collector would certainly guess this was a Lenchkirch clock. They would at least be from the right part of the world as an origin, but definitely from the wrong maker! This clock is a Gustav Becker through and through. Respendent in its brass trim, this magnificent clock stands out above the crowd, regardless of pedigrees!Unfortunately, the clock was hanging on a pegboard, so we've done our best to cut most of it out of the photos and had help with the front photo from our clock buddy, Craig Bates, in New Zeland... thanks, Craig!

Physical: The incredibly detailed walnut case measures 48" h x 19"w x 8.5"d. It recently received an exceptional professional restoration by one of the top guys on the West Coast who told us the case was essentially black when it arrived at his shop. Even he thought it was a Lenz. Several pieces of brass trim were re-cast in the restoration process as they were MIA.

The midcase section is very interesting. There is an latch on the left side that lets the front door open. But there are also a pair of walnut ball-tipped pins, one on each side that, when pulled straight out, release the entire movement surrount, much like the bonnet on a tallcase clock, allowing it to pull straight out to provide access to the movement from the side. The full-length photos below show the clock with the bonnet on and off as well as a side view of the movement with the bonnet off.
